Facebook heeft eindelijk eigen iPad app
De Facebook iPad app is nu te downloadenHet heeft ruim 18 maanden geduurd sinds de lancering van de iPad, maar nu is het dan eindelijk zo ver: Facebook heeft een eigen iPad app. Waarom het zo lang heeft geduurd, is onduidelijk. De Facebook iPad app brengt niet direct unieke features, zoals wel was verwacht. In juni van dit jaar werd de Facebook iPad app al aangekondigd, maar daarna werd het weer stil. Tot nu dus.

Opvallend is dat de iPad via een simpele blog post werd aangekondigd, zonder event. Het lijkt erop dat Facebook zelf ook niet al te trots is op de app. Meer over de app is hier te zien. Eén van de developers die werkte aan de iPad app nam eerder dit jaar zelfs ontslag nadat hij er niet meer tegen kon dat de iPad app van Facebook steeds maar uitgesteld wordt. Op CNN doet hij zijn verhaal: Former Facebook developer Jeff Verkoeyen, the lead engineer on the the iPad app, wrote on his blog recently that he quit the company after Facebook continually delayed the release of the iPad app. It had been in the works since October 2010 and was essentially completed in May, Verkoeyen said. “For reasons I won’t go into details on the app was repeatedly delayed throughout the summer,” Verkoeyen wrote. “Needless to say this was a frustrating experience for me. The experience of working on this app was a large contribution to the reasons why I left Facebook, though that doesn’t mean it wasn’t a difficult decision.”
