Yahoo doet het goed

We weten allemaal dat Google wereldwijd verreweg de grootste zoekmachine ter wereld is. Ook op het gebied van online video is het bedrijf veruit marktleider met haar YouTube. Maar toch is Yahoo op veel punten groter dan Google. Zo is Yahoo de grootste speler op het gebied van financieel nieuws, sportnieuws, email (groter dan Gmail en Hotmail), foto (middels flickr), en entertainment nieuws. Dat blijkt uit een uitgebreid onderzoek naar Yahoo versus Google.

GigaOm geeft een overzicht:

- Yahoo News is the No. 1 news and information site in the country, with more than 50 million monthly unique readers

- Yahoo Finance has more than 20 million monthly unique readers

- Yahoo Sports beats the competition with almost 25 million monthly users

- Yahoo OMG! entertainment page scored more than double the traffic — more than 20 million monthly unique users.

- Yahoo Mail has two-thirds of the total webmail market with 103 million unique visitors. Hotmail had almost 48 million, Google 36 million

Kortom, Yahoo doet het zo slecht nog niet.
